Why we wrote this
We are an Indian agency, so we're not warning you off — we're telling you what to check, because we clean up after the teams that get it wrong. Most clients who come to us from a bad offshore experience were burned by the same handful of things, not by "offshore" itself.

The four failure modes — and how to vet each
- Time-zone neglect — ask: whose business hours do you work to? A good partner covers your hours for calls and urgent issues, not just their own.
- No quality control — ask: who reviews the code? If no senior reviews the work, bugs ship to you.
- Vague scope — ask: will I get a fixed written quote? A clear scope and fixed price prevent the "that's extra" conversations later.
- Vanishing contractors — ask: am I hiring a team or an individual, and can I see reviews over several years? Continuity is the whole point.
What the cost difference really is
The honest version: the same seniority genuinely costs less in India, because salaries and overheads are lower — not because the work is worth less. The trap is comparing a senior Indian team's quote against a junior team's quote from anywhere and calling it a saving. Compare like for like — senior against senior — and India is a real advantage, not a gamble.
The vetting checklist
- They state which business hours they cover — yours.
- A senior reviews code on every project.
- You get a fixed written quote, not an open-ended estimate.
- You're hiring a team, with named roles, not a lone contractor.
- Reviews exist over several years, not just this month.
- They hold a recognised quality certification (e.g. ISO 9001).
- Ownership of the site, code and content is yours, in writing.
- They can show live client sites in your market.
